Man to Goods: the traditional process

The traditional order picking process, in which the order picker collects the goods and places them on a carrier, as research has shown, can be improved in parts. After the introduction of voice picking and the use of hand terminals and truck terminals in the process, CICT Innovations from Veenendaal has developed an add-on with IPS Intelligent Palletizing Software, making the traditional warehouse process of order picking better, faster and smoother.

Inefficient process

Temporary and inexperienced employees are often used in the manual order picking process. Despite the presence of a WMS system (incl. Voice-picking) and tools such as hand-held terminals, research has shown that the correct stacking of the various products very often leads to errors and inefficiency in the process for a customer. The result is to stop several times during order picking for the same customer order and to recapitulously. The result is unproductiveness of the employee, the incompetent assembly of the carrier with mixed goods and therefore the loss of quality of the carrier that goes to the customer. As a result, the number of carriers becomes unnecessarily greater than necessary, which increases the transport costs. IPS Man to Goods solves these problems.

IPS Man to Goods

Man to Goods IPS has been specially developed for traditional warehouses and optimally supports the order picker during order picking. Our smart algorithms calculate the optimal walking routes.

IPS presents these routes visually at a terminal, for example at a wrist terminal where the hands remain free. This way you minimize the number of stops in a corridor. The order picker is then instructed to pack the correct products. He / she sees through a visual presentation at a glance the exact place on the carrier to place the goods. This method prevents re-stacking and ensures optimally filled carriers. And that in turn ensures optimum utilization of the transport, which reduces transport costs.

By correctly deploying and using IPS Man to Goods, the following objectives are achieved:

    Picking order and visual stacking instruction for optimum stacking on the wrist terminal, prevents unnecessary stacking during order picking. The smart IPS Single Box algorithm arranges that in the event of incidents (out of stock, broken products etc.), the alternative or subsequent product from the order is also optimally stacked.

  • IPS Nav.
    Calculates the optimal driving route during the order picking process based on the customer order products. The number of stops for collecting the order is minimized. The route is visually presented at the wrist terminal.

  • IPS Stack Assistant.
    Do you want to teach your new or less performing employees to stack better and to achieve higher productivity? This is possible with the stand-alone IPS Stack Assistant. The employees receive a course and are guided and trained in a number of sessions in stacking with IPS by practicing with your own orders and products.
